Question 59. But what good does it do you to believe all this?

Answer: In Christ I am righteous before God and an heir of eternal life. (a)

(Scriptural proofs after the fold.)

  • a. Habakuk 2:4
  • Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith.

          Romans 1:17

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

          John 3:36

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

          Romans 5:1-2

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
