Sarah Palin Gossip and Changes

I chatted yesterday with someone who visited Sarah Palin’s parents last week. He’s an old friend of the family who stops in for coffee when he passes through on his annual trip to Alaska where he used to be a public school teacher. Last night he stayed for supper on his way back to Minnesota. One of the highlights of his trip was spending an evening with Sarah Palin’s very tired but very proud parents and seeing Mr. Heath’s extensive collection of rocks, fossils, antlers and hides.

Okay, so it’s not really gossip, but the title got your attention, didn’t it?

There is new snow in the mountains and frost in the morning, and the push is on to finish up the jobs that need to be done before winter. Two of the new window have been installed, with six more ready to be put in on Saturday. Most of the potatoes are out of the ground and in the basement, but there’s still plenty of yard clean up to do.

Yep, things are changing around here. I’ll be back soon to tell you about a bigger change than the seasonal one.

Home: September 23

Every Tuesday and Friday for the rest of September, I’ll be collecting posts on the topic of home. Do you have a post I should include? Leave the link in the comments here or email it to me. Poems, photos, lists, stories, you-name-it—it’s all welcome.

Recent home related posts

Dorothy has posted a lovely reflection on Coming Home.

Me? I simply posted scripture, but it’s related to home, I promise. And to Dorothy’s post, too, and I think you’ll see it if you read them both.

Seeing the Heavenly Homeland by Faith

Abraham Leaving Ur by Nathan Greene

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. 11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. 14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. (Hebrews 11:8-16 ESV)
