Thankful Thursday
I am thankful that God has revealed himself in his word. We don’t have to go around guessing who and what he is because he tells us. We don’t have to go around guessing (or even constantly questioning) how and where he works. We can know God and we can know his works, because he has made himself known to us. That’s a good thing and I’m thankful.
I’m thankful that we have such a variety of good food available. Right now I’m eating ham and Swiss cheese slices on a toasted bagel for lunch, and it is yummy. Last night I had a mix of roasted vegies (and I love my vegies*) that wouldn’t even have been available to me during the winter months when I was a child. I’m thankful that God provides us with such an abundance. Yep, good food is another good gift.
I’m thankful for sunny days and beautiful blue skies. This has been a bit of a difficult winter and I’m thankful for the promise of spring days to come.
*Note to my spell-check: It is perfectly permissible to spell vegies with only one g. And preferred, if you ask me. After all, the g is soft.
Throughout this year I’m planning to post a few thoughts of thanksgiving each Thursday along with Kim at the Upward Call and others.

Yes, but when you divide vegies into syllables, wouldn't that make "ve" an open syllable, that would therefore call for a long "e"? :)
I've probably been teaching spelling and phonics for too long. LOL.
But it's not a long "e" in vegetables. :)
I'd divide it veg/ies, anyway.
This is the most invigorating discussion I've had on this blog in a while. Hooray for phonics. And spelling. And all the good things.
My linguistic professor would have loved that spelling of vegies. He was always rather skeptical of the spelling of rules, seeing as he viewed them as being transported to the wrong language families and whatnot.
That makes sense, that "vegies" wold have only one "g" since words like "leggy" and "froggy" both use the hard "g." Ah, yes, spelling and phonics are certainly fun things.
I absolutely adore oven-roasted veggies, especially a mix of carrots and parsnips. I love to roast asparagus, too with a dab of olive oil and salt & pepper.
I'll be joining in with my own TT soon.
Okay, talking about roasted vegetables is making me hungry. I adore them, especially root vegies/veggies. Now I'm going to have to make a decision about spelling.
Rosemary...Ina Garten has many wonderful recipes. This is her recipe for Roasted Winter Vegetables: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/roasted-winter-vegetables-recipe/index.html
What - vegies? Who knew? Not I.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Becky
Will there be a roast vegetable cake?
Thanks, Judy.
I had my cake last week....chocolate cheesecake.
